Holy Orders

“Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has  made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.” (Acts 20:28)

This sacrament is for those called by God to become a priest or deacon. After the required seminary formation and ordination where he makes promises of perpetual celibacy and obedience to his (arch) bishop and his successors. He is then able to perform sacred duties of administering the sacraments, preaching, teaching and serving the Church community. Diocesan priests serve in ministries and parishes within the geographical area of their diocese or archdiocese. Religious order priests serve wherever their order is present.
